The Southeastern Railway Museum will host an assortment of visiting model railroad layouts from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Nov. 3-4 during the museum’s annual Model Railroad Days.

The special layouts are included in regular museum admission and coincide with the Piedmont Pilgrimage, a tour of model train layouts in the Atlanta area.

This summer, museum volunteers along with members of the North Georgia Modurailmodel railroad club rebuilt the museum’s HO train layout. The new design represents railroading in Southeast during the steam-to-diesel era of the 1950s and will be open to the public by Model Railroad Days.

The Southeastern Railway Museum in Duluth, Georgia, showcases the colorful history that railroads and transportation played in shaping both Atlanta and North Georgia.

The 35-acre museum is home to more than 90 pieces of historic railroad equipment, buses and artifacts that bring to life the region’s transportation history. The state designated the museum “Georgia’s Official Transportation History Museum.”

Many of the historic railroad cars and locomotives on display are open for guests to climb aboard and explore. Visitors can buy tickets to ride on a train made up of vintage cabooses. Also, they can opt to purchase a cab ride and join the engineer as he operates the train around the property.

Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors 65 and older and $7 for children between the ages of two and 12 years old. For more information about the exhibits and special events, visit
