SRM Staff's Southeastern Railway Museum (HO)
The Southeastern Railway Museum will showcase the Georgia & Tennessee Railroad during their annual Model Railroad Days event on November 2-3 from 11 AM until 4 PM. The superbly detailed HO layout represents railroading in the Southeast during the steam-to-diesel era. It features a multi-level 3.3 scale mile mainline and fully automated operational vignettes designed to capture the imagery of iron ore mining in the early 1950's.
NWGA T-TRAK (N), North Georgia Modurail (HO) and Atlanta Interlocking Model Railroaders (HO) will present several scale options available to model railroaders. These local clubs, comprised of the best modelers from around the area, will operate classic trains and conduct clinics on modeling techniques.
“Georgia’s Official Transportation History Museum” is a sprawling 35-acre home to more than 90 pieces of historic railroad equipment, buses, and artifacts that bring to life the region’s transportation history.
Many of the historic railroad cars and locomotives on display are open for guests to climb aboard and explore. Visitors can buy tickets to ride aboard a vintage caboose or in the cab of full size switching engine. Visit the original depot from the City of Duluth and take the kids for a ride on the park train.
Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors 65 and older and $7 for children between the ages of two and 12 years old. NMRA members, family's, and guests receive a $2 discount on admission with proof of membership. For more information about the exhibits and special events, visit SoutheasternRailwayMuseum.org.
